Bereavement Ministry
The Bereavement Ministry is an outreach ministry whose goal is to provide comfort and support to individuals who are grieving the death of a loved one. To provide pastoral care in situations of loss and bereavement. To identify ministry partners who will share and encourage through similar loss experiences. To gather periodically as a group for encouragement and support.
Communications Ministry
Disciples organize to promote the mission of Union Baptist Church to the general public and among members of the congregation through the accurate transmission of church related information. The Communications Ministry uses a variety of forms of media to publicize ministry events including print, video, audio and the internet through its website. The ministry aims to maximize Union’s ability to reach, encourage, and empower through the Word of God.
Creative Arts Ministry
To provide musical expression (vocal/instrumental/dance) for Union Baptist Worship Services and events. To provide dance for Union Baptist Services and events. To provide an outlet for all performing, visual, and technical arts. To encourage an increase in discipleship by providing (1) regular meetings where Christians sing, dance, worship, explore biblical teachings/applications and (2) hold events where Christians can evangelize and give witness of their Christian experience.
Drama Ministry
Drama Ministry strives to teach professional work habits, acting technique and biblical principles through the introduction of new and historical plays and musicals, while creating an atmosphere of love and fellowship. To eventually build a group of actor/ministries that function as a team in writing, directing full plays and small scenes to be used through the fabric of Union’s monthly events. To have three main performances a year – (Christmas, Easter, and Spring/Summer).

Dance Ministry
Dance Ministry strives to encourage physical and spiritual discipline through worship and service in movement. To build a technical, worshipful, edifying repertoire that helps to enforce our ministry description. The ministry will perform at least 6 new pieces each year. There is both a children’s and an adult division of the Dance Ministry.
Education/Career Ministry
A ministry of resources, focused on encouraging, educating and supporting disciples in pursuit of higher educational opportunities. To guide, enhance skills, and to increase educational knowledge for disciples pursuing future educational goals and dreams. These goals will be accomplished through workshops, mentorship, field trips, career fairs, financial scholarship support, and resource materials.
Health and Wellness Ministry
The Health and Wellness Ministry strives to promote the “whole person” principle that we are made up of mind, body & spirit and by inter-connecting these three, we can live lives to a fuller extent for God.
We are working to break down the stigma, surrounding various illnesses, including mental illness, and bridge the gap between emotional wellness and spiritual wellness. Through our partnership with the PEWS program, a division of the Mental Health Association in New Jersey, we will provide education to clergy, lay staff and congregants to better recognize emotional difficulties, treatment options and provide links to available community resources.
The Health and Wellness Ministry seeks to become part of the discharge planning process for persons being released from hospitals, halfway programs or incarceration to provide ministry with reaching the lost for Christ and to become a source of information and support for those who are experiencing health challenges both personally and with family members.
Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry is comprised of children and youth (ages 3-18), their parents, and other adult volunteers. Our goals are threefold:
To support the spiritual growth and formation of our youth and their families;
To provide ministry (service) opportunities for youth to participate in;
To strengthen the fellowship among youngsters and families with children at UBC.
Our ministry includes the youth and children’s choirs, youth band, youth dancers. We also interface with and support Christian Education initiatives and programs that involve or are geared to youngsters.
The Youth Ministry welcomes all young people, families with children, and interested adult volunteers to share in efforts to grow healthy, faithful young disciples for Christ at Union Baptist Church.
The Youth Ministry established "Fourth Friday Fun" as a means of allowing the youth of Union to enjoy family, faith, fellowship, food and fun. Each fourth Friday of the month is Youth Game Night -- from toddlers to college students. Youth and parents enjoy each other as they engage in a myriad of fun-filled activities including, but not limited to: Wii games, Guitar/Band Hero, Taboo, Phase Ten, Chess and more. The youngest youth have access to countless movies via Apple TV. Fourth Fridays are from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in D.C. Rice Hall. Refreshments are served. Most importantly, evenings begin with circle prayer and end with circle "Popcorn Prayer." In addition to families enjoying relaxed time with each other, youth have invited guests to Game Night, which has resulted in those guests visiting Sunday School and Sunday morning worship service. God is awesome!
Men’s Ministry
Unite and gather men for fellowship under the direction of our Pastor. Assist in the activities and upkeep of the church, as requested by the Pastor and/or church leadership. Requirement to participate is the willingness to share in the love of Christ.
Missionary Ministry
The primary goal of the Missionary Ministry is to feed and clothe those in need and ultimately win souls for Christ and embrace the community. The Norman and Marie Love Food Pantry serves the community every second and fourth Tuesday providing food to individuals in the local metropolitan area.
Singles Ministry
Union Baptist Church Singles Ministry is dedicated to helping those who are single, divorced or widowed to live committed, empowered lives for Jesus Christ. Single people have a wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord with a God-centered focus; and with the Bible as its foundation, it is the ministry’s desire to provide a sense of camaraderie and family within a Christian setting, and to offer opportunities for individual growth within the community, among one another, and with the Lord through monthly meetings, group Bible Studies, workshops, conferences, trips, and casual get-togethers.
Voices of the Willows
Primarily provides for the needs of senior citizens who are either at home or who are living in various senior citizen buildings. Visit periodically and provide encouragement and spiritual care to those who are disciples of the congregation.
Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry of Union Baptist Church Montclair strives to promote a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to build fellowship and support with and for one another, and to provide opportunities for ministry within our church and throughout our community. Create a relevant (building Christian character) and a relational (connecting with one another) environment.
